Is there a way to load products in bulk into the system via a CSV or Excel sheet?
If this such of mechanism does not exist, then is there ANY way to load in 2000 products
or will they need to be added ONE AT A TIME?

There is an Import Manager, but only in 3.0 version. In 2.0 you will have to write a custom application to import products.
