    Batch AD Import

Batch AD import is PAINFULLY slow. Just took me 15 minutes (14.5 minutes of waiting) to add four users. Is this a known issue, or is it my issue? If it's me, how do I fix it? If it's a known issue, please fix ASAP. Will be useless when we go live with 100+ users.

We are not aware of this issue nor the slow speed you are getting, but we are looking into this and I hope to have an answer/fix for you soon.

Can you tell us a little bit about your setup.

I.E.  Your AD/Domain server is it running on the same network as the IBN?

We have checked this again on our end and if you can, can you let us also know which steps in the wizard exactly are slow...

    Re: Batch AD Import

IBN is on the same network/domain as AD.

The first part of the wizard is OK (viewing all AD items, selecting them, viewing the field mappings). The slow part happens after I have selected the users that I want, and then have to add them to IBN groups and security roles. When I click "Update" it takes 10-15 seconds and clicking (changing) a user takes 30-40 seconds.

    Re: Batch AD Import

I tested again, with 2 users first, then a batch of 6, and although its running faster this morning, it still takes 10 seconds per "click", on steps 5 and 6, when i change users, or hit "Update".

This is better, but still going to hurt when i have to import 100 users. I'll chalk yesterday's extreme slowness to our network (although our network is very simple) but any more info you can provide would be great.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the Info - we will try to isolate the potential cause of this for you and get back to you as soon as possible.

    Re: Batch AD Import

Just letting you know, we have still not been able to isolate/replicate this issue, but I wanted you to know that we are still working on this...

Is your domain controller/AD box and the server running IBN all using the same operating system?  i.e. Windows 2003 or Windows 2000?

If so what are the service pack levels on these boxes?

Sorry for the questions, but we want to get this resolved...

    thanks again for your patience...

    Re: Batch AD Import

DC/AD and IBN are both running Win2k3 AS. The IBN box is fully patched, while the DC is definitely not up to date. If you think different service packs could be causing problems, this may be the solution. We will be doing a round of upgrades soon, so we'd have to wait until then.
