The ECF licensing model is based on 2 license types. The first type is a full source code license, and the second type is a production deployment license. In addition to this, we also offer several variations and packaging based on this theme.
The ECF licensing model supports the ability for a single developer or group of developers to build, design, integrate, test, QA, and deploy any number of solutions. Each developer requires their own developer seat license and as each solution that is ready to be deployed to a production server requires an appropriate production deployment license for the target domain name.

Available Licensing Types

Trial/Evaluation License: No Cost, Expires in 30 days, Full featured.
Production Deployment: Enables an ECF commerce solution to be deployed to production domains. Deployment license for that domain never times out and does not have to be renewed. Deployment licenses are on a per-processor basis.
Full Source Code License: Provides an individual or organization with a non-transferable full source code license for the ECF. You can distribute as many compiled solutions as you need using an associated deployment license.
Enterprise Source Code License: Provides an organization or corporation with a non-transferable full source code license for the ECF and allows an unlimited number of developers within a single organization. You can distribute as many compiled solutions as you need using an associated deployment license for each production site.
OEM and Other Licensing : Mediachase works with a variety of partners and software vendors who are looking to either integrate ECF technology with their products or who have other special needs. This licensing is deal based and varies depending on the situation.

Note 1: Source code is bound to a single organization or entity and cannot be used by 2 different entities under the same license.
Note 2: Source code distribution of the ECF is prohibited by our license agreement. For companies that build commerce solutions for other customers who require the delivery of source code with the end solution, each customer must also have a license for the source code.
