Installing the ECF on Windows Vista
If you have recently tried to install the ECF on Windows Vista, you are already familiar with the current compatibility issues when trying to install using the install wizard. In the meantime, there is a workaround in order to get the ECF installed on Vista. To install you will need to bypass the wizard and do a manual install. Here are the steps:
1. Make sure aspnet_regiis.exe has been installed using the /i argument. (C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe /i), you may need to create a shortcut and run as administrator
2. In the distr folder from the package you downloaded you will find a file named extract.exe. Create a shortcut from this file and append to the end of the startup the parameters: /Y /L “path to installation directory” /E files.cab, hit ok to save. Right-click the shortcut and select “run as administrator”. This will extract your files into that directory.
3. Manually create the Applications for your Commerce Manager, Public Store, and Web Service in IIS.
4. Make sure your Applications (Advanced Settings) are on the Classic .NET AppPool
5. Create the Databases in SQLServer as described in the Getting Started and Setup Guide (link below).
6. Manually configure the web.config (See readme for details) for each application
6. Right click on Application for Commerce Manager and Public Store and select
7. Browse make sure your sites are up and running.
Be sure to read the Getting Started and Setup Guide for more general information on the manual install.
