Setting up downloads after placing order.

I am using  (4.1.2) medichase version and want to know if there is following functionality available with mediachase.

I want to setup a download, after an order is placed. In other words I have a video that I want people to be able to download once the order is successfully placed.

Is there any functionality within mediachase that can support this?

    Hi,

Just to clarify, is the customer ordering the video download? Or is the customer ordering a separate product, but you want the customer to then be able to download a supplemental video after the order is placed? How would you want the video download to be delivered to the customer (via order page, email, etc.)?

Customer is ordering a video download.
Download will be delivered in the email. Is this possible within mediachase.

Re: Setting up downloads after placing order.

It's possible to setup purchaseable downloads using ECF. For example, for our own site, we make available digital downloads of our products that customers can download directly from their accounts.

This doc here can help with general setup of products and skus (including digital downloads) - http://docs.mediachase.com/doku.php?id=ecf:41:cm:sku

If you're looking to deliver the video download through email (I'm assuming as a direct link for download), you may be able to customize the notification email for digital downloads.

    Hope this helps.

If I give the direct link in email, will this be available for any one to download or just for registered user. How does this work?

Re: Setting up downloads after placing order.

You may have to apply some third-party DRM scheme to prevent unauthorized sharing and linking of a digital download. However, what you can do is simply notify that the download is available in their account and that they should login to download the video.

Thanx for your response. In the link you provided in previous post has no information regarding configuring digital downloads. Can you please provide some detailed steps to do so. I would highly appreciate it.

Re: Setting up downloads after placing order.

    Hi,

Unfortunately we don't have a step-by-step guide available, but if you first login to Commerce Manager, click Catalogs --> Create New Download you can open up the Download configuration page. You just need to make sure you have a publicly accessible folder to place the video in so that customers can retrieve the download.

Let us know if you have additional questions.

    Hi,

As per your direction, I have created a download and attached it with the product. But I am not sure how do I make this download available to customers. Just curious to know if I want customer to have this download over the order page, how can this be achieved? I dont want customers to login and have access to downloads.
