    A few issues

    Hi

We are looking at purchasing your product and possibly the full source code, however upon going through the tutorial i have had some issues.

    1. When making changes to the home category i never get to see these changes on the home page, to ensure i wasnt just being a numpty i made the changes to the 'consumer electronics' category as well, these changes did show up although the image paths were incorrect, how do i see the changes to the 'home' category?
    2. When adding the flowers category i have problems displaying the correct image, at first no image was displayed then i added the image to the 'primary category image' (not told to do this in tutorial) this displayed okay but was a lot bigger than in the tutorial, i guess this may be the template is different but if so i think the tutorial needs updating.
    3. I cannot get the short description to display for the Flowers category.(template again?)
    4. When i click to add 10 flowers to my cart all i get is a blank page.
    5. When adding/changing products/categories etc, i notice they are cached, when i switch caching off the site runs very slow, in production it is not practical to be changing the web.config so how do people manage to purge the cache in live when they make changes (is their an option in the admin i have missed?).
    6. I get javascript error when i click 'compare' in my 'Plum Crazy' product, 'line 0 null is null or not an object' - not much help i know.

I would appreciate your feedback about these issues while we try to evaluate your product.

    Regards

    Richard

    Re: A few issues

    Hi Richard,

I am sorry you are having trouble with the trial.  Sounds like your issues are related to configuration and caching.

Caching should not be turned off in a production environment for optimal performance.  Depending on the caching value you set in the web.config, changes made through the back-end Commerce Manager will not show up on the public front-end site right away (delay of a few minutes or longer).  The smaller the number, the shorter the delay.

I can assure you that many companies with tens of thousands of products in their catalog are using our ECF 4.1 framework without any complaints about performance.

I am not aware of that javascript error.

To resolve your issues in the quickest manner, it might be best for you to email sales@mediachase.com and someone from our end will schedule a call to go over this with you.

Hope to hear from you soon!
