Q) What can I do with the Trial/Evaluation Package/License?
If you download and install the trial/evaluation package you are in fact downloading the ECF software. The only difference is that the trial software will time-out. However, you can still develop, design, extend, integrate with payment and shipping gateways, etc. In other words you can build a fully working solution based on the framework. There are no limits and the ECF is very flexible. If you like what you see you can choose to purchase the appropriate licenses and then you can activate the product.
Q) How does your licensing model work?
First you will need to purchase a Full Source Code License in order to build your e-commerce solution. One developer seat is included with the license. If you have multiple developers on a team, each on their own development environment, you can purchase additional developer seats only after you have purchased a Full Source Code License.
Once a "production solution" is ready to deploy to production, the developer or customer must purchase a deployment license. A deployment license is essentially a unique activation key to enable the "solution" to run in a production environment. The costs for a deployment license vary based on the size of the end solution in terms of product count. You can deploy any number of different solutions to a single server or different servers as long as you have a deployment license for each named production site (http://site.yourcompany.com) you put into production.
Q) What is the Full Source Code license?
The FULL Source code license includes the front end source code, the administrative back end source code, and the source code for the ECF framework API's itself. It provides the complete ability to modify all aspects of the ECF including the core code base. In short it is what we use to compile the entire distribution package ourselves. All source code is written in C#.
In addition, the full source code includes 1 developer seat license.
Q) What is a Developer Seat License and how can I purchase additional seats?
A Developer Seat License allows each developer to work on a Full Source Code License in his own environment. If you have multiple developers in a team working on the same ECF Source Code, you can purchase additional developer seats once you've purchased a Full Source Code License.
Q) Can I purchase a developer seat license without purchasing a Full Source Code License?
No, you must purchase the Full Source Code License before you can purchase a developer seat license.
Q) What is a Deployment License and how does it work?
A Deployment license grants you the ability to deploy your target solution into production. A Deployment license is a key that can be activated using the ECF product activator included with the framework. You can deploy any number of different solutions to a single server or to different servers as long as you have a deployment license for each solution you put into production.
Q) What is the enterprise source code license and how is it different than the full source code license?
The enterprise source code license is the same as the full source code license except it is packaged with 20 developer seats and is targeted at organizations who will be working with a number of developers to leverage the ECF.

Q) When I purchase a developer seat license or a production deployment license, how do I activate it?
Included in the ECF distribution is a simple activation program. For developer seat licenses, you receive a product key that you can use to activate. Simply use our activation program - type in the key - and your ECF developer seat will be activated.
For production deployment licenses, you purchase the appropriate license, send Mediachase your target production domain name, and then we generate a LIC file and send it to you. Once you receive this file you copy it into your compiled production solution directory and your production site is activated.

Q) Do I have to pay for deployment licenses every year?
Only if you are deploying new sites for your company or organization. When you purchase a deployment licenses, they do not time out and their are no ongoing costs from the initial purchase.
Q) What type of support do I get with my licenses?

Q) We want the full source code license, but when we are done with our customization solutions, our customers demand that we hand them the full source code as well. How does this work with your licensing?
In this case, because you are required to give your customer the source code, you must have that customer purchase (or you purchase the license on their behalf) a full source code license from us BEFORE you deliver them your modified version. If the customer will have more than 1 developer maintaining or developing on that solution once they have it, they will also need to purchase the corresponding number of developer seats.
Q) If I am a hosting company and want to provide hosted commerce solutions to my customers, how does that work?

Q) If I already have a software product and want to integrate ECF capabilities into that product and distribute it what type of licensing do I need?
